MySpace Launching Comedy Section
18 July 2006 (StudioBriefing)
As part of a plan to attract advertisers who ordinarily shy away from the anything-goes atmosphere of social-networking websites, MySpace.com is launching a comedy section that will feature webcasts from the national chain of Improv comedy clubs. The primary sponsor will be Pepsi-Cola North America's Sierra Mist brand. MySpace had previously launched sections devoted to movies, music and books. Several individual comedians have become virtual celebrities on MySpace, including Dane Cook who reportedly has amassed 1.34 million "friends" who view his routines on the site.

Teen choice Awards
Hello, Just a little interesting fact.... Dane won a Teen Choice Award for "Choice Comedian" category, in 2007. This just goes to show that his audience ranges from teens on up... Not sure if some of his material is fit for younger audiences but it is definitely better than most comedians. Good job Dane :)

Mr. Brooks
Hi guys, I want to tell you about Mr. Brooks. Dane Cook definitely plays a character that we have never seen him play. He plays crazy like no other, and is still funny, even though he plays a wannabe hit-man. Definitely worth seeing, just to see this new side of Dane.

What is the Super Finger Symbol?????
The SUperFInger or SU-FI (pronounced Sue-Feye) Consists of raising the middle finger, ring finger, and thumb on the same hand while lowering (or curling) the index and pinky fingers. “As with many things in my life, what started out as a routine on stage became something that just took on a life of its own.” The original joke performed at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood was about having to be so pissed off at someone that giving them the finger just wouldn’t be enough, so you’d have to give them just a little bit extra--the SUperFinger (or the SU-FI if you’re a bad ass M F). "I always wanted to have my very own symbol, something as identifiable as the Nike ‘swoosh’, the ‘golden arches’ of McDonald’s, or the American Red ‘Cross’."

In the beginning....
"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1 KJV)
In the beginning...(of comedy)..."Cinematic comedy can be considered the oldest film genre (and one of the most prolific and popular). Comedy was ideal for the early silent films, as it was dependent on visual action and physical humor rather than sound. Slapstick, one of the earliest forms of comedy, poked fun at farcical situations of physical mishap and indignity, usually in pratfalls, practical jokes, accidents, acrobatic death-defying stunts, water soakings, or wild chase scenes with trains and cars" (http://www.filmsite.org/comedyfilms2.html). Dane Cook is successful as a comedian because his style of humor is similar to this early style of comedy. His jokes would not be as funny if they were not accompanied by his hilarious body gestures. He is truly the master of his domain.
In the beginning... (Dane Cook)...Raised in the Boston suburb of Arlington, MA, Cook began his career at age 18, honing his craft on the college and comedy club circuits. A firm believer in connecting personally with his fans, Cook became one of the first comics to develop and maintain his own website to reach out to audiences. He still routinely spends hours every day personally answering fans' emails and works tirelessly to remain accessible through blogs, podcasts, and free downloads of his routines. As a result of his efforts, his website, danecook.com, now receives over 500,000 hits per month and his MySpace following has grown to an unprecedented community of 1,800,000 friends. What more can I add, he is Amazing!!!!!
